We’re inviting youth across West Virginia to share what you see in your community—through your lens.
Photovoice is a process in which people use photo images to capture aspects of their environment and experiences and share them with others. The pictures can then be used, usually with captions or descriptions composed by the photographers, to bring the realities of the photographers’ lives home to the public and policy makers and to spur change. We are looking for what is good in your community. The pictures should show what is important to you about your community, and should be about things that matter to you. We want to see the positive aspects in your communities. We hope that you will capture what you are proud of.
You do not need to print the pictures, simply submit them online as a jpeg image with a brief explanation. With your picture, be sure to include answers to the questions on the submission form. We will use that description to better understand your pictures. All photos need to be submitted by 5 PM on August 18, 2025.
If you are under 18, your parent or guardian will need to provide their information and signature on the submission form.
If your photo includes other people, you will need to submit a Media Release Form signed by each person in the photo or their parent/guardian.
